Class Parents

Class Parents volunteer for their role and have a very fun job to do. In addition to communicating important information between the PTA and class, Class Parents get to organise meet-ups for the parents/caregivers of all the students in their class. This can be as simple as a coffee after drop-off or as elaborate as you can organise. Use your social skills to get parents talking and make the year enjoyable for everyone.

The Class Parent Coordinator can help you with any questions you may have. We will post your events on the website so you can refer people to specific information easily without having to do much more than invite, collate replies and of course be there!

Being a Class Parent at Glenealy School is a great opportunity to be the central contact point between the PTA and your child’s class. Class Parents are to liaise with Mrs. Nasser in the library before sending out information to class parents, this ensures consistent communication throughout all year levels.

What does the role entail?

Organising social events (e.g. coffee morning, lunch, after work drinks, potluck dinner, wine and cheese) whereby parents/caregivers of the class can meet. These events are typically organised once every term, but there are no restrictions on your enthusiasm, if you want to meet up with your group more often!

Coordinating one popcorn sale with the PTA Popcorn Coordinator each school year.

Acting as a positive liaison point between the class teacher/educational assistant and the parents/caregivers of your class.

Communicating any information/comments/concerns from your class to the PTA Committee in a positive proactive manner.

Welcoming new parents to the school and ensuring they are invited to social events and feel part of the Glenealy community.

Who will help me?

The PTA Committee is here to support you in fulfilling your role as a class parent. Do not be shy about asking for help, clarification or input from your Class Parent Coordinator or any other PTA Committee member. Sometimes it is good to share the role with another enthusiastic person from your class.

How much of my time will it take?

Generally no more than two hours per month except in the case of special occasions e.g. Spring Fair, where more time may be needed in the lead up to the event. The only exception is the Year 6 class parents who will be involved in organizing social events towards the end of the school year.

What kind of person does this role suit?

Any parent/caregiver who is outgoing and friendly and who likes to meet new people, and who is keen to be involved in building the Glenealy School community.

How can I become a class parent?

Please complete a PTA Volunteer form and put it in the PTA tray located in the school office on the first floor.
